Abstract

The calcium oxide crystal possesses well developed fcc structure and is divalent in nature. Oxides and silicates make up the bulk of the Earth's mantle and crust, and thus it is important to predict their behavior for the study of seismic and volcanic activities. The second order elastic constants (SOECs) were computed using Coulomb and Born-Mayer potential in the temperature range 100-1000 K. The ultrasonic velocities were calculated using these values of second order elastic constants and density ρ. In this study temperature dependent velocities in calcium oxide have been calculated along <100>, <110> and <111> crystallographic directions and the results are presented graphically and discussed in depth.

Abstract

The study was conducted to determine the socio-personal, economical, communicational and psychological characteristics of member farmers of Gram Panchayat and to explore the relationships between selected characteristics of the member farmers and perception of the member farmers of Gram Panchayat about farm television. Data were collected through interviewing during the year 2012 from randomly selected eight taluka of Anand districts of Gujarat with the sample size of 96 respondents they were member of Gram Panchayat. Results indicated that slightly less than one third of the respondents were in secondary education group. Medium level of age group, extension contact, scientific orientation, risk orientation, economic motivation whereas farming experience, innovativeness were high and land holding were low level group. Majority of the member farmers had membership in one organization.The independent variables like, extension contact and scientific orientation had positive and highly significant correlation, whereas education, social participation, economic motivation, risk orientation and innovativeness had positive and significant correlation with perception of member farmers of Gram Panchayat about farm television whereas farming experience had negatively significant correlation with perception of member farmers of Gram Panchayat about farm television.

Abstract

Now-a-days, one of the most important emerging tools of ICT is the mobile phones with a remarkable growth during last decade. Mobile phone technologies have provided a good platform for farmers to share their knowledge and information among each other in time such as weather information, crop and variety selection, fertilizer and irrigation management, disease and pest management, market prices of the product and on-going government programmes. Keeping this in view, a study was conducted assess the utilization pattern of mobile phones forsharing agricultural information among farmers in Merta block of Nagaur district of Rajasthan. A total of 110 respondents were selected for the study. This study has shown that a majority (83.63%) of the farmer used call to retailor than call to relative farmer (80%), internet user (29.09) and perceived as most information on weedicide, pesticide and disease control (89.09%) through mobile phones. The correlation studies indicated a significant association between educations, with extension agency contact and mass media of the farmer. The analysis showed that the poor connectivity, economic problem, high cost internet services and lack of updated information were some of the problems reported by the respondents.

Abstract

Television started as a modest affair in India on September 15, 1969 within the All India Radio set up on experimented television service in Delhi. It was soon converted into a full-fledged telecasting station. Later on, television centers were commissioned at Mumbai, Calcutta and Chennai and a relay center was set up in Poona. The television set up was delinked from All India Radio (AIR) and under the name ‘Doordarshan’ was given the status of a full-fledged directorate with effect from April 1, 1976. Based on the recommendation of Chanda Committee the ‘Krishi Darshan’ programme was started by the Delhi Doordarshan on 26th January 1967. The programme was aimed for motivating and educating the farmers on various disciplines of agriculture. To find out various constraints faced by the member farmers of Gram Panchayat while viewing farm television, the study was conducted in Anand district have eight talukas, from each taluka three villages were selected randomly. Thus, in all 24 villages were covered with 96 member farmers of Gram Panchayat who were involved in Gram Panchayat. The data were collected through pre-tested structured interview schedule and appropriate statistical procedures were employed to analyze the data.Investigation was made relating to constraints faced by member farmers of Gram Panchayat in viewing of farm television. Frequency and percentage for each problem were calculated.An attempt was also made to ascertain suggestions from member farmers to overcome various constraints faced by them inviewing of farm television. The respondents were requested to offer their valuable suggestions against difficulties faced by them inviewing of farm television.

Abstract

Now times, 21^st century declared to be the age of information and communication technology. This is the time when more people everywhere are involved in acquiring new knowledge and skills. We cannot work in the society without on-line technology. The need of ICT interventions are felt need of the hour in agriculture as rural areas mostly depend their socio-economic growth with agriculture. Rural India needs a very strong and innovative intervention to take a giant leap forward “Connecting India”, with focus on rural connectivity is one such intervention, which can help, ignites the rural creativity to achieve its potential by integrating them in global market.Keeping this in view, a study was conducted assess the socio - economic impact of use the mobile phone technology (ICTs) among the farmer in Merta block of Nagaur district of Rajasthan. A total of 110 respondents were selected for the study. This finding has shown that the majority of maximum number of respondents (14.54%) used Kisan mela on regular basis followed by agriculture officer (7.27 %), the another result showed 69 per cent farmers used input dealers on regular basis followed by progressive farmer (64.54 %), neighbours (55.45%) and the various level of mass media sources TV was used on regular basis by majority of the farmers (30%) followed by newspaper (29.09%). However, 62.72 and 48.18 per cent respondents reported that they used TV and radio on occasional basis for agricultural information.

Abstract

The present study deals with summarizing and analysing the current challenges of internal supply chain management in the Indian manufacturing world. Benchmarking practice for internal supply chain management performance factors may be fruitful to overcome supply chain challenges. The main purpose of this research work is to implement the benchmarking practice in internal supply chain performance factors for the identification of gap between them. Internal supply chain management consists of purchase, production, and distribution units between suppliers and customers. Proper coordination between departments is necessary for efficient working of internal supply chain of manufacturing industry. In this research work, the main objective of the authors are to extract internal supply chain factors through history of literature and prepared mean scorecard on the basis of industrial questionnaire survey results; to implement the regular comparative benchmarking practice in finding out performance gap between factors of intern al supply chain until and either the gap is under control or within the limits.

Abstract

The Calcium oxide crystal possesses well developed structure of the NaCl-type and is divalent in nature. Oxides and silicates make up the bulk of the Earth's mantle and crust, and thus it is important to predict their behaviour. The elastic energy density for a deformed crystal can be expanded as a power series of strains using Taylor's series expansion. One can get this expansion starting from nearest neighbour distance and hardness parameter utilizing Coulomb and Born-Mayer potentials for face centred cubic crystal symmetry. The coefficients of the quadratic, cubic and quartic terms are known as the second, third and fourth order elastic constants (SOECs, TOECs and FOECs) respectively. When the values of second and third order elastic constants and density for any material at a particular temperature are known; one may get ultrasonic velocities for longitudinal and shear waves in different crystallographic directions which give important information about its anharmonic properties.
The theory obtained is applied to get the higher order elastic constants for Calcium oxide crystal at different higher temperatures and the results obtained are presented graphically and discussed widely.

Abstract

Milk is considered as an important food ingredient for a major sector of-population. Extensive study about milk quality has been reported in the recent past. Very little work has been done to study the quality of milk using ultrasonic techniques. This has motivated us to undertake the present study. In this paper, we have made detailed investigations of ultrasonic wave velocities in milk at different concentrations using single frequency ultrasonic interferometer.

Abstract

If the values of second order elastic constants and density at a particular temperature are known for any substance, one may obtain ultrasonic velocities for longitudinal and shear waves which give an important information about its anharmonic properties. For computing the second and third order elastic constants (SOECs & TOECs) at any temperature, a method have been developed, starting from nearest neighbour distance and hardness parameter assuming Coulomb and Born Mayer potentials for face centered cubic crystals. The anharmonic properties of lithium halides are evaluated at different temperatures (100 K to upto their melting points) using this formulation. The results obtained in present investigation are in reasonable agreement with other studies.

Abstract

An effort has been made for obtaining the second order elastic constants of rocksalt structure solids starting from primary physical parameters viz. nearest neighbour and hardness parameter assuming long- and short-range potentials at an elevated temperature. When the values of the second order elastic constants are known for a crystal, many of the anharmonic properties of the crystal can be treated within the limit of the continuum approximation in quantitative manner. The ultrasonic velocity any crystal is directly related to their second order elastic constants (v-longitudianal=(C₁₁/d)^1/2, v-shear=(C₄₄/d)^1/2;d is density). In this study, second order elastic constants are computed upto their melting temperature for rocksalt structure solids, which are alkali cyanides, sodium and potassium halides. The results thus obtained are compared with experimental data and found in well agreement with present values.

Abstract

Supplier selection represents one of the most important processes for an effective inventory management. Vendor selection is a complicated process. This process needs evaluation of multiple criteria and various constraints associated with them. The work represents the systematic identification of the important criteria for supplier selection process. In addition, the results exhibit the application of development of a decision model for evaluation and selection of suppliers with proposed AHP model, which by scoring the performance of suppliers is able to reduce the time taken to select a vendor. This paper is about providing the service to the customers in the material distribution system with the help of supply chain management and an investigation base for further research. Supplier and Distributor both are playing the significant role for enhancing manufacturing supply chain performance. The supply chain manager should identify the criticality of distributors and supplier in manufacturing supply chain management and understand the impact of each critical Success Factor on effective supply chain management. Therefore, a complete and structured methodology is proposed for analysing CSFs in manufacturing supply chain management. The application of decision framework has been demonstrated with an Indian case situation. Findings demonstrate that the decision framework can be useful to all manufacturing firms for prioritizing CSFs of supply chain management.

Abstract

The present competitive scenario requires high degree of sophistication in the benchmarking practice that helps to improve the performance of internal supply chain management (ISCM) of any organization. Thus, it is necessary to analyze effectively the factors of ISCM benchmarking. The present study deals with the identification of factors of ISCM using literature survey. The influence between the identified factors was evaluated through brainstorming as well as decision making trial and evaluation laboratory [DEMATEL] technique. The internal assessment of factors is decided on the basis of 5 point rating scale, where 0 point indicates less influence of factor, while 5 point indicates high influence of factor. The main goal of this research work is to perform factor’s analysis and finally classify them into cause and effects groups using DEMATEL technique. This research work might be fruitful for researchers as well as managers to identify those factors which are responsible for cause and effect of problem in any type of business.
